Things Are Starting to Heat Up in ANZ

The scene has been a bit sluggish in the aftermath of BlizzCon, but things are starting to heat up again with the announcement of not one, but two competitive events in December. But that’s not all. There’s been name changes, roster shuffles, and articles galore!

■ On 3 December at 11.30am AEDT we see the return of Morton‘s wildly popular ANZ Royal Rumble. This solo sign up event has no MMR requirement and people of all levels are encouraged to enter – which you can do by clicking here. At the time of writing this, there are currently 46 sign ups for the event so it is definitely shaping up to be a big one! For more information on the format, check out this video interview we did with Morton back in 2015.

■ Then, on 10 December at 12.00pm AEDT MC Mortgage Solutions along with are running the Winter Veil Classic – a single day, double elimination event open to all teams from the Australia and New Zealand region. It is a semi-competitive event featuring a prize pool of $400 to the top four placing teams. You can check out the rules and sign up to the event by clicking here.

■ A few weeks ago Reborn player Benjamin94 announced via Twit Longer that the Season 3 winners have disbanded. But how disbanded are they really? Word on the street is that three of the team have been actively scrimming together this past week. Whatever is going on behind the scenes, I think we can all agree that name Reborn is gone forever.

■ Speaking of name changes, new organisation Masterminds have made public that they have have picked up Reality. Kotori, IceboLd, Vanilla and john will shortly finalise their roster and are looking to make a serious push onto the international stage, with team captain Kotori stating, “[..]our goal is most definitely to represent Australia and New Zealand on an international level.”

■ If you haven’t seen it already, Arcaner sat down with Esports John for an in-depth interview about what went wrong for Reborn at BlizzCon, where to from here and what exactly is wrong with Heroes of the Storm in ANZ. It’s well worth a read.

■ Our very own Disconcur also had a chat with Esports John, this time about the first multi-class hero in Heroes of the Storm, King Varian Wrynn.

■ In #HGC2017 news, Misfits and Two Bees Determind are the first two European teams to qualify, with Gale Force esports and Naventic locking in the first two US spots. Both regions will be switching to a league format in 2017, so competition is fiercer than ever. There are still more qualifiers to come – check out the Heroes of the Storm subreddit has a breakdown of what’s on next.

■ The Gold Club World Championships will kick off on 26 November. GosuGamers have more details on the format and schedule of events.

■ Last, but not least, we leave you with a video of Aussie YouTuber Brbteabreak having a crack at Blackheart’s Revenge:

■ PS. Don’t forget to load up on cheap goods during the Heroes of the Storm Black Friday Sale. The 360 Day Stim-pack has returned, and we also see three bundles. Click here to see prices in $AUD.
